GSD Eva at 7 months

We bought her when she was 7 months old (her age in the photo). She was only 9 kg!! And 52 cm tall.

As we figured out, her previously owner wasn't feeding her properly. Now she is 8.5 months and her weight is 19 kg. She eats Akana puppy large breed food. Her mother is a regular German Shepherd, 65 cm tall. Her father is also a regular German Shepherd.

How much growth should I expect? Thank you for your comments.

It always makes you stop and stand dumbfounded when you hear about or see any kind of animal neglect how hard is it to fill a bowl of food and water.... any way I would go with a food called chicken soup and supplement with frozen bill Jack. Canned food is bad for the teeth if over fed. Unimilk sprinkled over her food would be great as well. Make sure you have a decent vitamin to give her daily. I have a 2.5 year old male who is not small but very picky and his weight fluctuates like crazy we finally found the chicken soup. It has no fillers and my male loves it and looks great consistently. Good luck with her and small is mighty so no worries as long as you love her and I'm sure she is in good hands now. And just a thought I'm sure u do the monthly heart guard but ask your vet for a tape worm pill

Your girl is gorgeous, but may always be a little on the small side due to her early malnutrition. It would probably be a good idea to keep her on quality puppy food until at least a year. Keep us posted!!!

Eva Just Needs Good Nutrition

Hi Marios,

I'm glad Eva is now being provided proper nutrition. As the other commenter stated, from the picture, she does appear to be closer to 7 weeks than 7 months.

She should experience some growth spurts now that she is eating regular meals.

You may want to look at a brand of dog food that has real meat (not chicken meal) as the first ingredient. If you can get it where you live, I would suggest Innova, Blue Buffalo or check out the Top 10 Dog Foods.

Due to her prior malnutrition, your vet may be able to provide you with a good idea of what to expect for her adult weight. But dog food with plenty of real meat will help her out a lot.

Let us know she's doing. She's a very pretty pup!

Eva is 7 months old in the picture. She has her adult teeth. Even the doctor couldn't believe it. When he examined her teeth, he was very surprised!!

Sounds Normal for a 7 Week Old GSD Puppy

Your dog looks more like 7 weeks in the photo than 7 months due to color and puppy feet and mouth. Are you sure she's not 7 weeks?

Check to see if she still has baby teeth. The weight gain sounds perfect for a pup that went from 7 weeks to 3.5 months.
