Why I built a German Shepherd Site

OK. This is actually a one wo-man operation.

This site is designed to fill a void. While searching for an informative website on German Shepherds, I came up short.

This was amazing. Surely there must be hundreds of websites on the AKC's 3rd most popular breed? I scoured the internet seeking information, but the lack of resources amazed me. I had to hunt through several different sites to get the information I was seeking.

Everything that can be invented - has already been invented
~Charles Duell, Commissioner of the United States Patent Office, 1899

Well, it wasn't true then. And it's not true now. German-Shepherd-Lore.com was born.

Why GSDs?

German Shepherd PuppyI always wanted a German Shepherd (sometimes called german shepard or german sheperd). But my lifestyle and living arrangement never allowed it. I finished moving around, sold the condo and settled into a house. Finally, it was time.

Not having all of the information I needed upfront, I visited a backyard breeder. Since my puppy is teaching me new things everyday, I thought it would be only fit to share.

I sincerely hope you find what are seeking on this site. If not, please let me know.

What is this "Lore" Thing All About?

I am often asked why I chose the word lore for my domain name. The short answer is that the other domains I checked were taken.

But, it was a blessing in disguise. Lore adds a bit of intrigue. And its synonym is wisdom.

Legend and lore seem to be used interchangeably. And folk lore is a common word combination.

But the definition of lore is the body of knowledge, esp. of a traditional, anecdotal, or popular nature, on a particular subject.

So, it was a win-win. Intrigue + wisdom = lore.
