Overrun with GSDs needing forever homes, German Shepherd Rescue & Adoption, Inc. in North Carolina, like many rescues, is no longer accepting owner surrenders. But, they do offer a courtesy page to list your dog. On their owner surrender page, they ask a tough question:

Do you really have to? If you are honest, most surrender reasons come down to people problems or dog problems. Are you forced to give up your dog, or do you just want to get rid of him? If you take a look at their courtesy referral page, youll find that most people seem to have answered that question fairly. Except for one woman who said that dog hair was not good for the baby. And because of the dog's profuse shedding, there would be nowhere for her baby to crawl (when she actually gets to that point). So get a Dyson! Sounds like a people problem to me. Perhaps you can help one of these GSDs find a forever home.

Rescued on April 7, Courage, a 3 year old German Shepherd was emaciated, weighing just 37 pounds. Less than half his ideal weight, this determined dog ate dirt and rocks to survive.

Now look at him! With the help of German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County and Community Vet Hospital, he is now a happy, healthy boy. Still a bit on the thin side, this beautiful GSD now has a spark in his eye. And he has found a good home complete with a German Shepherd brother to play with.
