Pet Airways

Pet Airways. What a concept!
I've always wanted to take my dog back home
to San Diego where I grew
up. There are a couple of really great dog beaches and a ton of
great hiking trails.
A car trip is prohibitively
long and
does not allow enough time to enjoy the destination. When PA
announced an affordable pet travel airline, I got excited about
planning a
trip out there.
What is It?
It is a pet-only airline that allows pets to
travel in the main cargo.
They are not treated like baggage as on traditional flights. Instead, a
dedicated pet attendant checks on your pet throughout the flight in a
comfortable temperature-controlled cabin.
Your "pawsenger" is flown in a Beech 1900
turbo-prop
airline. Recognized for its safety and reliability, the 19 passenger
plane has had the seats and overhead bins removed. Your pet is placed
in a private pet carrier secured using a proprietary restraint system
especially designed and created by the airline.
Is it Expensive?
With introductory prices starting at $149, it is
hard to beat. The
peace of mind in knowing that your pet is not in the belly of the cargo
hold and is being cared for in a safe and comfortable environment is
near priceless.
Protocols and pet handling procedures are
conducted
under the guidance of famed Lassie veterinarian Dr. Jeff Werber.
What Cities are Serviced?
Currently, flight cities serve 9 major metro
areas:
- Atlanta (DeKalb Peachtree Airport)
- Baltimore / Washington (Baltimore/Washington
International
Airport)
- Chicago
(Midway Airport)
- Denver (Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport)
- Fort Lauderdale (Fort Lauderdale - Hollywood
International Airport)
- Los Angeles (Hawthorne Municipal Airport/Los
Angeles
Executive
Airport)
- New York (Republic Airport New York)
- Omaha (Eppley Airfield)
- Phoenix (Falcon Field)
