Puppy Shots
What Shots Does My Puppy Need?
Make sure your pup is protected with the
proper puppy
shots.
Recommended puppy vaccinations may vary
based on your
location. Certain diseases are a greater risk in some areas than
others.
Below is a common puppy immunizations
schedule. This
covers the general recommendations for the most essential shots:
- 6 - 8 weeks DHLPP & Coronavirus
- 11 - 12 weeks DHLPP & Coronavirus
- 15 - 16 weeks DHLPP & Coronavirs
- 16 weeks - Rabies
Three sets of vaccinations and a Rabies shot
will keep
your puppy protected for the first year. Annual boosters are
currently recommended, but be careful not to over-vaccinate, as this can lead to vaccinosis.
What is DHLPP?
This combination shot covers 5 different
diseases:
Canine
Coronavirus
is often included along with the DHLPP.
If your dog will be boarded or attend doggy
day care,
you will want to have your puppy vaccinated against canine kennel
cough.
The bordetella vaccine protects your puppy
against this
airborne bacterial/viral infection.
Discuss with your vet a proper immunization
schedule.
This will ensure that your puppy is protected against the most common
and preventable dog diseases.
