Pain on moving

by Janis
(Coventry)

I came home the other day and my 11 year old German Shepherd crossed with Siberian Husky, couldn't move without whining. As far as I know he hadn't hurt himself although we do have a 2 year old Shar Peii, who is sometimes playful and they occasionally play fight together. However they are never left together unattended as she is caged at night and when we go out.

When he did stand up, his back was humped up in the middle and his head hung low. Water dripped from his nose in this position.

Although he didn't move around as normal he did eat his dinner and manage the garden for toilet.

Inside the house he had to be near one of us at all times and every time he lifted his head or moved from one side to the other he winced and whined in pain and had such a sad look in his eyes.

After two days we gave him some ibruprofen and within 48 hours he is 85% back to normal. What do you think it was?
